Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information the LeonPOS app (package net.leonpos.pos) handles, why, and how it is protected. LeonPOS is used by businesses (merchants) to take orders, print receipts, and accept payments.
Information the app handles
- Business data: menu items, prices, modifiers, orders, tickets, tables, discounts, and sales totals entered by the merchant and its staff.
- Employee data: staff names, roles, and PINs used to sign in to the POS and track sales and tips.
- Device data: the terminal's store key and connection settings used to link it to the merchant's LeonPOS Hub.
- Payment data: card payments are processed by the merchant's payment processor and its certified payment app or card reader. LeonPOS receives only the result (for example approved or declined, amount, card brand, and last four digits). LeonPOS does not store full card numbers, security codes, or card PINs.
The app does not use the camera, microphone, contacts, or location. It does not collect information about the merchant's customers beyond what the merchant enters on an order, such as a name on a ticket.
How the information is used
Information is used only to run the merchant's point of sale: taking and sending orders, printing receipts and kitchen tickets, processing payments, and producing sales reports in the merchant's LeonPOS Hub. We do not sell data, and the app shows no third-party advertising.
Where it is stored and shared
Data is stored on the terminal and synced to the merchant's LeonPOS Hub over the network. It is shared only with the payment processor needed to complete a card payment, with service providers that host LeonPOS systems for us, or when required by law.
Device permissions
- Internet and network state: to sync with the LeonPOS Hub and process payments.
- Bluetooth and USB: to connect receipt printers, cash drawers, and card readers.
- Built-in printer: to print receipts and tickets on supported terminals.
- Notifications, foreground service, and wake lock: to keep orders syncing and alert staff while the POS is in use.
Security and retention
Access to the POS requires employee sign-in. Merchants control their own data and may ask us to export or delete it. We keep data only as long as the merchant uses LeonPOS or as required by law.
Children
LeonPOS is a business tool and is not directed to children under 13.
Changes
We may update this policy. The effective date above shows the latest version.
